Jones Plastic & Engineering is a North American injection molding manufacturer with integrated capabilities in product development, mold design, robotic paint and hydrographics, assembly, and prototyping. We operate seven facilities across the U.S. and Mexico.

Our engineering team uses PTC Creo for 3D CAD modeling and can accept 2D and 3D data in virtually any format. We also use KeyShot for photorealistic product rendering and Moldex3D for mold filling simulation.

 

Our presses range from 65 tons to 3,147 tons across all facilities. Each location has a different press mix optimized for its product portfolio. Contact us to discuss your specific tonnage and molding/assembly  requirements.

We operate horizontal injection molding machines with capabilities including gas-assist injection molding (GAIM), insert molding, overmolding, high-speed/thin-wall molding, and in-mold labeling. We continue to add new presses and press technologies as customer applications require.

We process a broad range of commodity and engineering-grade thermoplastic resins including:

Commodity Resins: ABS, Acrylic (PMMA), HDPE, Polypropylene (PP) with glass/talc/mica fill options, Polyethylene (PE), Polystyrene (HIPS and GPPS), PVC, and SAN.

Engineering Resins: Acetal (POM), PBT, PBT/PET glass-filled, PET, Polycarbonate, PC/ABS blends, and Nylon — as well as specialty and high-performance polymers for demanding applications.

Jones Plastic can apply high-quality paint finishes to a wide range of plastic substrates, including commonly used engineering and commodity resins such as TPO, ABS, Nylon and PC-ABS, as well as metal substrates such as aluminum. Material compatibility depends on factors such as resin type, surface characteristics, performance requirements, and end-use environment. Our team evaluates each application to ensure proper adhesion, appearance, and durability while meeting customer-specific cosmetic and functional requirements.

During the development process, we work closely with customers to select the appropriate substrate and paint system combination to achieve the desired finish and performance.

Jones Plastic offers prototyping services to help customers evaluate designs, validate functionality, and accelerate product development before committing to production tooling. Depending on your project requirements, we can provide prototype parts using a variety of methods to support fit, form, and function testing. While many prototype programs transition into production, a production commitment is not required to take advantage of our prototyping capabilities. Our team will work with you to recommend the most effective and cost-efficient approach for your project.

Gas-assist injection molding uses nitrogen gas to create hollow sections inside a molded part, reducing sink marks, warpage, and material usage while maintaining strength. It is particularly beneficial for large, thick-walled, or appearance-critical components where conventional molding may present cosmetic or structural challenges. Our engineering team can help determine if gas-assist technology is right for your application.

Jones Plastic supports a wide range of production volumes, from low-volume programs in the thousands to high-volume manufacturing in the millions. Rather than a fixed minimum order quantity, requirements vary based on factors such as part size, material, tooling, production process, and overall program needs. Our team works with customers to determine the most cost-effective manufacturing approach for their specific application.

Jones Plastic has extensive experience delivering Class A painted components for automotive applications where appearance and surface quality are critical. Our painting and quality systems are designed to meet demanding cosmetic standards while supporting high-volume production requirements.

While every program is unique, Jones Plastic is often able to move from purchase order to PPAP in as little as 16 weeks. Final timing depends on factors such as product complexity, DFM reviews, tooling requirements, sampling needs, and customer-specific PPAP requirements. Our experienced program management team works proactively to streamline each phase and keep projects on schedule.
